Windstream Power Monitor PDF Manual

Windstream’s Power Monitor combines the function of a DC ammeter, voltmeter, watt meter, Amp hour and Watt hour meter. It is designed to effectively display everything that is going on with your DC power system, be it the Human Power Generator or the Bike Power Generator.

Be sure to connect the Power Monitor correctly to the battery. It must be attached to the battery (under load) before you start pedaling and creating power or it will be damaged. If you are using the Power Monitor with a Power Pack, make sure it is connected and the battery switch is in the “on” position if it has one. If you are using a simple 12 volt battery,
the Power Monitor must be connected Positive to positive and negative to negative. Care must be taken not to be cross the wires or battery connections. Shorting a battery can supply huge amounts of current, potentially causing fire, injury and damage to equipment. The Power Monitor can measure up to 60 volts and pass up to 100 amps.

Windstream’s Human Power and Bike Power Generators produce relatively low mperage at 12 volts. The Human Power Generator is capable of producing is a maximum of 7 amps and the Bike Power Generator is capable of producing a maximum of 20 amps. Both levels are well below the rated maximum for the Power Monitor.

Understanding the Power Monitor Screen

The Start-Up Screen: Each time the Power Monitor is turned on (power applied across the meter’s leads) or reset, it will take about 4 seconds to boot and reset to 0. Then the display changes to the measurement screen.

The Measurement Screen: The measurement screen continuously displays Amps, Volts and Watts as long as you are pedaling and producing power. All other measured values are presented sequentially, every two seconds, in the Data-Queue position of the display. Data values are identified by their units (Ah, KWh,Ap,Vm). All measurement screen values are updated every 0.65 seconds.
