Single-point AF mode, you can choose a single AF point in the 51 and the Dynamic-area AF mode, you can choose from 9, 21 or 51 AF points. The 51-point option offers 3D-Tracking mode, which automatically shifts the focus point to suit the individual movements. Auto-area AF mode specializes in focusing on people, automatic detection and prioritization of all skin tones with 51 points.

DX-format CMOS image sensor
The D300S Nikon’s renowned DX-format CMOS image sensor that provides 12.3 effective Megapixels. It provides exceptional picture quality in a high ISO sensitivity of ISO 200 to ISO 3200 with little noise. In addition to Lo 1 ISO 100 equivalent and Hi 1 ISO 6400-equivalent are also available. First recording of data can be quickly and accurately transferred with integrated 14-bit A / D conversion. All subsequent internal processing is then treated to a full 16-bits. The resulting output shows breathtaking detail and remarkably smooth tonal gradations.
