Nikon’s Standard
If sent, move the front Focus Mode Selector to S for Single-AF, the camera on the subject, hold the shutter button halfway, recompose and shoot. This is exactly the same way Nikon N2020 worked – back in 1985. The N2020 is marketed as “Dual Auto.” This means that a continuous motion tracking mode. That is C is a continuous, position of all Nikon today. Set it to “C” for tracking moving subjects, but you are still in the middle sensor.
If you are 23 years of improvements, you need to other institutions. AF-S always focused and locks, and AF-C always remains the following topic. The AF Sensor Selector on the back is the same since the F5 in 1996. Nikon calls this the “Multi Selector.” Tapping the center you get back to the center sensor. If you knock the “L – •” lever to “L”, you can lock yourself out of the selection of AF points, although you can still navigate the menus.
My Favorite Settings
The D300 has so many AF sensors and other intelligent logic that I often my D300 to the “pop” Big White Rectangle mode. In this mode, the D300 magical automatic right AF sensor (or sensors) and used them. I no longer pretend that the years 1990 and select sensors manually, or pretend that the years 1980 (or 1950) and re-compose after focusing.
Even though the D300 has the same AF sensor and institutions such as the D3, the D300 not D3’s computing horsepower to interpret these data as fast. The D300 is not always figure out which sensor to use fast enough, so it is too slow for you in the big white rectangle mode, you must use the old ways of picking AF sensors yourself.
Here is how my cameras. If I did not mention an institution, let me by default or is not related to focus. Front Focus mode switch: C, C-AF, continuous AF tracking. Custom setup a1 (AF-C Priority selection): I set “Release + Focus.” The standard of “Release priority, the camera just shoots, whether or not you focus. I never other than the first shot or two of a series of images of this institution. It is a stupid setting that the camera work quickly in the shop, but sucks for moving subjects.
In “priority focus” the camera waits until every shot in perfect focus. This slows it down – a lot. This is the standard for AF-Single institution still subjects, but a bad idea for moving subjects. “Release + Focus” is an in-between setting. In this view, most of my shooting in focus. I hit the shutter, and my D300 shoots once these figures which sensors to use in the Big White Rectangle mode, or immediately in the other modes sensor (crosshair or Tit).
Set this way, the D300 usually only shoots. If you out-of-focus, you get a fuzzy shot first, but you will not miss and the D300 will be spent for the next shot as soon as possible.
