What is scripting?
The script is a sequence of commands that tells Photoshop CS2 perform a number of these activities, such as the use of different filters to selections in an open document. These actions may be simple and affect only one object, or may be complex and affect many objects in the document, Photoshop CS2. These actions can call Photoshop CS2 alone or apply different applications.
Scripts to automate repetitive tasks, and are often used as a creative tool to simplify the tasks that would be too time consuming to do manually. For example, you could write a script to create several localized versions of a file or obtain information about the different color profiles using a collection of images.
Why use scripting?
While graphic design is characterized by creativity, some aspects of the actual work, illustration and image manipulation, are creative, but nothing. Scripting allows creative professionals to save time by automating repetitive production tasks such as resizing or reformatting documents.
Any repetitive task is a good candidate for the script. Once you can identify the steps and conditions associated with the performance of tasks, you are ready to write a script to take care of it.
Why use scripts instead of action?
If you used Photoshop CS2 Actions, you are already familiar with the huge benefits of automation of repetitive tasks. Scripting allows you to extend these benefits by allowing you to add other features that are not available for Photoshop CS2 action. For example, you can do the following scripts, and not with actions:
* You can add conditional logic, so the script automatically makes “decisions” based on the current situation. For example, you could write a script that decides which color of the border to add depending on the size of the selected regions in the image: “If selected area is less than 2 x 4 inches, add a green border, or add a red border.”
* Simple script can perform actions that involve multiple applications. For example, depending on the scripting language you use, you can focus on Photoshop CS2 and other Adobe Creative Suite 2 applications such as Illustrator ® CS2, the same script.
* You can open, save, and rename files using scripts.
* You can copy manuscripts from one computer to another. If you used the action and then came the computer, you should restore the action.
* Scripts to provide greater versatility for automatic opening of files. When you open the file in action, you need hard code file location. In the script, you can use variables for file paths.
